website
[edit]According to the HTH website Explorer Elementaryis also considered part of the HTH village (It occupies the same building as HTHMA and HTMMA) but it does not carry the High Tech High name. Is there any reason information on Explorer should not be added? I felt that I should check before editing. Jyuichi 07:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Added detail on lottery process and a fixed a few fine points of methodology. I don't have a particular web source for some of the finer changes but they are based on my experiences as a High Tech High student. Jyuichi 03:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Renamed to what the logo bills it as. -- user:zanimum
Instead, everyday before lunch students practice Tai-Chi for half an hour. This not only works their physical fitness, but also improves inner strength.
That sounds like an advertisement, not to mention an endorsement of the concept of "inner strength". --204.108.80.10 20:12, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I must lament that I have recently learned that the Tai-Chi we practice in High Tech High-LA does not count towards P.E. credit, severely screwing up my high school credits. I dislocated my shoulder last year (when the school was still part of the nearby public school), so I missed a semester of P.E., and now I learn that what we've been doing doesn't count for anything, just great. So the students in the 9th grade haven't done anything to finish that requirement, the 10th graders only have a year done, and I have to graduate next year, which means I have to find someplace to do my stupid one semester of P.E. If only wikipedia could include all the things that have seriously gone wrong here - this incident is just the most recent in a long string of retarded decisions made by the administration. 204.108.80.10 16:58, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

Paragraphs about High Tech High Los Angeles
[edit]In overhaul of this article, I excised the following paragraphs:
"For example, in the fall semester of 2004 at High Tech High Los Angeles, the 10th and 11th grade students had to design, create, and market their own beverage product. Starting from scratch, they had to come up with an original beverage. In chemistry, they were graded on the chemical composition, formulas, and other related details. In math, they were graded on things like the volume, surface area, shape, label surface area, originality, etc. In their English class, they wrote proposals and persuasive essays about their beverages. They created ads, fliers, presented a sales pitch, and even created a commercial. After all of the beverages were created, the students held an Iron Chef competition. The other students at the school would come and try each beverage and rate them according to taste, originality, etc.
Since the campus size is relativaly tiny compared to other public high schools, sports like track, football, and swimming are unavailable to High Tech High Los Angeles. Instead, everyday before lunch students practice Tai-Chi for half an hour. In the 2005-2006 school year, High Tech High LA is planning to have its students participate in LA's annual running Marathon."
Although informative, the above paragraphs are about HTH Los Angeles, and the article is about HTH San Diego. If HTH LA gets its own article, or if someone starts an article on the High Tech High concept, then that would be a more appropriate home I think. Fernando Rizo 5 July 2005 00:06 (UTC)
Merge HTHI page?
[edit]High Tech High International does having separate pages add anything to the content as a whole? It seems to have the same information as this page. Jyuichi 04:21, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- While the HTHI articles does have similar information, the two articles should not be merged as they are, indeed, different schools. I'll edit the HTHI page later on, to remove duplicate information. -Señor Lelandro 02:34, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
URL should be changed?
[edit]I understand there is a naming policy stating that the URL should be whatever it is best recognized as. Our school is most recognizable as High Tech High, and yet it re-directs to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Technology_High_School
Is it possible to get it to re-direct to this page instead of that? Or possibly a disambiguation page is in order?
- Disambiguation page is now in place. 68.107.120.181 (talk) 03:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
NPOV with Sports
[edit]I really don't know much about High Tech High, and while most of the high school sounds very interesting to me, I do think that the sports sections need to have a little more of a Neutral Point of View, and also be "notable" if they are to be included in this article. --Pordaria (talk) 05:17, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
