Fast Fashion & Its’ Impact

[edit]

Aside from the detrimental environmental effects brought about by fast fashion companies, there are many other issues that are not often spoken about. Specifically, many fast fashion companies rely on cheap labor processes. In countries that are much less developed than the United States, this process can be brutal and may not be a sustainable job due to the low income that workers make. Those who work in the fast fashion industry receive very low incomes that cannot support their lifestyles. Aside from cheap labor proceses, another issue is that fast fashion companies can have a major impact on the economy. For example, Zara and SHEIN, both being very well known companies, have had the ability to drive out many other small business. Small businesses are in competition with these fast fashion companies, causing a loss in business. Overall, fast fashion has created such issues within our world and it is important that changes are made to the industry. Emecohen (talk) 20:46, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First paragraph under "Fashion in the western world" section has weird referece

[edit]

This sentence: "The most dramatic early change in fashion was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male over-garment from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks" links to this reference: https://web.archive.org/web/20150419063504/http://www.conceitom.com.br/jeans/#more-1226 which is an archived web article in Portuguese about what kind of jeans women should wear based on their body shape, showing different famous people as examples for each kind of jean. I looked up if the fact in the actual sentence about the over-garment is true and it is so just the reference needs to be changed to something else. 192.226.142.125 (talk) 09:16, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
